MEET our FOUNDER

ALISHA

Alisha joined Sort the Fort in 2019. She has always found comfort in organizing. In college, a couple of her friends used to love to pull stuff out of her dresser drawers, just to watch her frantically put it all perfectly away again. With her very eclectic style, it is a joy for her to organize someone else’s space. She loves meeting clients and learning new ways to make spaces work for them.

BREE

Bree joined Sort the Fort in 2020, nearly two decades after meeting Alecia during their time at TCU. Her favorite areas to organize are closets. She grew up styling and organizing closets for her family and friends. Bree loves the look of a freshly organized closet and the happiness it brings to clients. Prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom, she meshed her experience as a buyer for a local department store and love of organization to create a personal-styling business where she worked to curate clients’ wardrobe and organize their closets.

CHRISTINE

Christine joined Sort the Fort in 2020 after working as an in-home custom closet designer for The Container Store. She is from Fort Worth and an alumnus of Texas State University, where she studied art history. Christine enjoys creating organized spaces that help clients showcase treasured items and reduce clutter. As both an artist and former art teacher, craft supplies are one of Christine’s favorite things to sort.

HALEY

Haley joined Sort the Fort in 2022. An avid organizer from an early age, Haley takes a minimalist approach and believes “less is more” when it comes to life and home organization. Her favorite place to organize is the pantry because there are so many container options to choose from to individualize each space.

MEET our TEAM

JEN

Jen joined Sort the Fort in 2023. As a little girl, she used to take everything out of her room just to put it back again. She enjoys the decluttering phase of the Sort the Fort process when clients purge items to toss or donate because she can see the weight lifted off their shoulders when the space is clear of extraneous items. Clear space = a clear mind! Children’s spaces are her favorite areas to organize. Teaching children various organizing methods when they’re young sets them up for success and allows a perfect opportunity for color coding!

MICHELLE

Michelle joined Sort the Fort in August 2023. She takes great joy in seeing clients’ faces during a transformation reveal, and knowing they have a calm and orderly space to enjoy. Her favorite area to organize is the kitchen. An organized kitchen is easy to maintain with minimal effort and allows all family members to easily access items.

SARAH E.

Sarah joined Sort the Fort in 2021. Organization has always played a vital role in her life. As a young child, she was diagnosed with dyslexia and attention deficit disorder. She discovered that staying organized helped reduce stress and anxiety in school. Following graduation from The University of Oklahoma, Sarah became a teacher. She discovered that an organized classroom helped students with structure, productivity, and efficiency. Her love of organization carries over into her home, where the cookies in the cookie jar are perfectly positioned. Sarah finds organizing to be therapeutic amidst the chaos of raising young children.

SARAH P.

Sarah joined Sort the Fort in 2021. She describes herself as slightly OCD with a side of crazy creativity. She has a love for monochromatic anything and was originally brought on to choose the Sort the Fort uniforms. She loves putting outfits together because she believes a cohesive look helps everything else fall into place. Her focus on each project is to make the space more functional and utilize every inch. She likes to give each space a cohesive, easy flow so it is easy to maintain. She loves to declutter and enjoys helping customers purge items that no longer work for them. She loves a good turntable and as a nurse, she carefully creates a functional medicine cabinet.

MEET our FOUNDER

Fort Worth native and TCU Alumnus Alecia McCoy is the Founder and President of Sort the Fort. She has always been passionate about the power of organization.  Her childhood dolls had to be perfectly arranged and, unlike most teenagers, she insisted her drawers, closet, and bathroom be carefully and creatively organized.

Family and friends called upon her to help with moves, closet clean-outs, and other organizing endeavors which fed her passion for the organizational process.  It also allowed her to enjoy seeing others become visibly more at ease as their spaces transformed from cluttered to clear.

Alecia created Sort the Fort to turn her passion of helping others organize their spaces amidst the chaos of life into a career.
